Like any five year old, Auggie wanted to do and be so many things when he grew up. After tragically losing him to acute myeloid leukemia, Auggie’s family and friends turned to CureSearch—an organization that funds research for safer, more effective children’s cancer treatments. In Auggie’s memory, we hope you’ll join the cause by supporting The Ultimate Hike. This annual event offers a lifesaving adventure in which participants hike up to 30 miles in one day to raise funds toward a cure for all children’s cancers.

Childhood cancer survival rates can range from <1% to 90%+, depending on the type of tumor.

CureSearch’s mission is to end children’s cancer by driving targeted and innovative research with measurable results in an accelerated time frame. The research they fund is delivering safer, more effective children’s cancer treatments.

In 2022, 71% of their expenses were allocated to programs, primarily research grants across their three research funding arms: Young Investigator, Acceleration Initiative and Catapult Awards. Their active projects include phase 1 clinical trials testing potentially groundbreaking new treatments for the deadly brain tumors DIPG and high-grade glioma, and the preclinical development of innovative new therapies for hard-to-treat tumors like neuroblastoma and a high-risk subtype of ALL. For 2023, they anticipate that their program investment will continue to exceed 70% of total expenses.

Ultimate Hike weekend is a life-changing, lifesaving event that combines the joy of hiking with the mission of raising funds for pediatric cancer research. Ultimate Hike brings together passionate supporters and survivors, united in our dedication to make a difference in the lives of children and their families affected by cancer.

We hike and raise funds as Auggie’s Honey Badgers to help other children survive.  This year, our team is excited to trek 12.7 and 26.6 miles around Lake Georgetown to end children’s cancer by raising critical funds for CureSearch. The money we raise will support innovative research for safer, less toxic treatments.
